Two of the club’s most passionate golfers reveal their favorite part of the Palmer Signature Course and why they traded a portfolio of hundreds of stunning villas for just one at Peninsula Papagayo.
What were the most important factors in your decision to buy property and build a home here?
The weather, the people and the opportunity to do something unique. The peninsula also resonated from an investment perspective.
You originally discovered Peninsula Papagayo through Exclusive Resorts. What made you trade a portfolio of hundreds of stunning villas for just one, here on the peninsula?
We joined ER in part because we hoped to find a location that we loved to build a second home. When we discovered Peninsula Papagayo, we knew it would be part of our family legacy. It’s very nice to come here knowing it’s home and not a temporary arrangement.
You seem to be spending more and more time at Peninsula Papagayo. It’s turned into a multigenerational retreat. Was that part of the plan?
Yes, the home was built for us but with our children and grandchildren in mind.
You are both avid golfers. What is your favorite part about the Palmer Signature Course?
For Debbie, it’s the 3rd tee box with the views of the ocean, bay, and on a clear day, the volcanoes to the east. For me, the walk off the 17th green is better than Pebble.
Is there really a golfing god?
Yes, and we always speak reverently when discussing her.
